Inter's Javier Zanetti: We need time to adapt to Gian Piero Gasperini's tactics

Zanetti was speaking after Inter's 2-1 defeat to arch-rivals AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana on Saturday that saw the Serie A champions recover from Wesley Sneijder's opener to secure the trophy, courtesy of strikes from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Kevin-Prince Boateng after the break.

"In the first-half, we were very comfortable, especially at the beginning," he told Inter's official website. "Then, we became a bit confused, particularly in the second period.

"However, this is fine and it is no problem if it happens along the way at a team like Inter. This year we are putting togther something new. In order to adjust to Gasperini's new tactics, we need a bit of time."

The versatile Zanetti warned, however, that they must learn from their errors and continue to put the hard yards in ahead of the upcoming Serie A season.

"The important thing is to look at our mistakes, see where we went wrong and not repeat them anymore," said the veteran Argentine.

"We must correct them and be ready at the start of the season. There's a lot of hard work waiting for us, and we have the time and desire to do it."
