Inter's Gian Piero Gasperini unsure about Wesley Sneijder's future following Supercoppa defeat

The 27-year-old's future has been the victim of intense speculation this summer, with a move to Manchester United being heavily touted, and the ex-Genoa tactician was coy when quizzed on his future.

"I do not know yet, we will think about it next week if there are any developments [on Sneijder]," said Gasperini in the press room, according to the club's official website.

Despite taking an early lead through their Dutch talisman on 22 minutes, the Coppa Italia holders allowed their opponents to come back into the game and proceed to run out as winners of the trophy, and Gasperini felt that his side deserved to have won the contest.

"We played less well after the break in defence, especially compared to what we had done in the first half," said the coach. "It’s a real shame, as we had the game in hand and deserved to be in that position. If only we had known how to control the tempo better at the start of the second half.

"In general, we had a good game, especially in the first half, so there is even more regret at not being able to win."

Gasperini then proceeded to praise their hosts in Beijing, for creating an impressive spectacle for the match.

"In any case, this was a wonderful experience, especially for the enthusiastic reception we received from the people who follow Inter and Italian football in China," he concluded.

Inter begin their league campaign with a home fixture against Lecce on August 28.
