Massimo Moratti hopeful that Manchester United target Wesley Sneijder will stay at Inter

Inter president Massimo Moratti is hoping that Wesley Sneijder stays with the club and does not join Manchester United, but has admitted that the future of his creative midfielder is still unclear.

The Netherlands international has been linked with a move to the Premier League champions since the arrival of new coach Gian Piero Gasperini, but the ex-Real Madrid playmaker's home for the 2011-12 campaign is yet to be decided.

"What will [be] the future of Sneijder? I do not even know. I hope he remains at Inter," the 67-year-old told reporters on his arrival at the Giuseppe Meazza outfit's summer camp in Pinzolo.

Despite playing a 3-4-3 formation that may alienate the 27-year-old, the new manager at the 2010-11 Serie A runners up has also claimed he hopes to keep the Utrecht-born player.

"[What would happen] if Sneijder left? I've been wondering too ... I still have not heard of [any] official offers for Wesley, [but] I hope he stays with us," Gasperini stated.

Sir Alex Ferguson has played down talk of Sneijder's potential move to Old Trafford, but the player's future is yet to be clarified.
