Inter's Gian Piero Gasperini: The team's enthusiasm has surprised me
"Today we were moving slowly and heavily, but we played a decent game and put some good moves together," the 53-year-old is quoted as saying by Inter's official website.
"When we are at the right level of fitness we'll do better, I'm sure."
He continued: "What has struck me most about Inter in these early days? The enthusiasm."
Gasperini also said he has held positive talks with Inter president Massimo Moratti and is impressed with their latest signings, including Ricky Alvarez.
"We spoke about how the early days of pre-season training had been going and about the positive side of these days together which were fundamental in building the foundations for what we hope will be a great season," Gasperini stated.
"In the space of a few days, we catapulted him [Alvarez] into the thick of things and he showed his qualities right from day one. We're sure we've picked a winner here."
