Nagatomo will miss Supercoppa

Gasperini confirmed Nagatomo will now to miss the Supercoppa Italiana in Beijing against Milan next Saturday.

"Unfortunately this was always a risk playing in these tournaments,” Gasperini told the club's website.

“We're definitely going to be without Nagatomo for Beijing so we'll evaluate whether we need to recall some of the players who were given extra leave after the Copa America, which is what we had said and agreed was a possibility."

It is not yet clear if Nagatomo will be available for the start of the new Serie A season which begins on August 27, although it appears certain he will miss Japan's August 10 friendly against Korea.

sneijder prefers United to city

United had indicated in negotiations with Inter that they were willing to meet the Italian club's €40m valuation of the playmaker.

But Sneijder is holding out for €230,000-a-week, which is beyond the €195,000 wage United want to offer, and the Old Trafford club have told the Serie A giants they can now only pay €27.5m if they are to offer a package attractive enough to capture the 27-year-old.

Talks have stalled as all three parties maintain their stances, although sources in the UK and Italy have told Goal.com that the deal is still alive.

United still want to make Sneijder their showpiece signing of the summer after moves for Luka Modric and Samir Nasri collapsed, while Inter are ready to cash in on a player no longer considered indispensable by new coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

City also enquired about the Holland international but were told that he wants to go to their bitter rivals.

"Sneijder wants to play for Manchester United because of their prestige and tradition, which meant City never really followed up their interest," a source close to the situation told Goal.com. "City were also put off by Inter's asking price, which is also a problem for United because of his salary expectations.

"United have told Inter they will pay €27.5m for Sneijder. Inter have said they want €40m although they could be willing to sell for €35m."

Goal.com revealed earlier this month that Nike, who sponsor Sneijder, Inter and Manchester United, could be prepared to make up the shortfall in wages, but it is unknown whether they will go ahead with such a venture.

Sneijder's future will have a direct bearing on Carlos Tevez's hopes of securing a switch from Etihad Stadium to Serie A.

As revealed by Goal.com, Inter are ready to up their interest in Tevez if they are confident they can secure the funds from Sneijder moving to Old Trafford.

The Argentine's representative Kia Joorabchian was in Milan on Thursday to hold talks with Inter officials. The Serie A club do not have the funds to buy Tevez without first selling one of their prize assets - even if City lower their asking price to £40m - but Inter staff believe the striker will be an ideal fit for the team's new three-striker system.

Tevez plays for Man City - Gasperini

"We will speak about football and the game with Manchester City, we are not obliged to speak about the market here," Gasperini told the press, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, when asked whether they would deal for Tevez.

"I know the media are interested in the market, but we are here to prepare the game. There is plenty of talk, but one reality, Tevez plays for City and the others players who have been talked about play for Inter.

"Wesley Sneijder is here as is Samuel Eto'o and we are here to prepare for the Supercoppa Italiana, not to make our transfer market.

"In any case, the choices are made by the president [Massimo] Moratti, but the fact that great players are here means that Inter are a great team."

Tevez representative hold talks with INTER

Both City and Inter will be taking part in the Dublin Super Cup this weekend and Joorabchian regards the tournament as a perfect opportunity for executives from both clubs to sit down and open negotiations over either a permanent transfer or a loan move for his client.

Tevez remains desperate to leave the Etihad Stadium after two seasons at the club and is back on Inter's radar after the collapse of a proposed €45m return to Brazilian club Corinthians.

As Goal.com revealed on Wednesday, Inter are ready to up their interest in the Argentina international but are first waiting for Manchester United to make a formal bid for €40m-rated playmaker Wesley Sneijder.

The Italian club have a long-term interest in Tevez and believe he will fit into their new three-striker system, but accept they can only afford the 27-year-old if they sanction the sale of Dutch star Sneijder. There have been suggestions that the Italian giants may try to tempt City into allowing Tevez to leave on a one-year loan deal.

Tevez was pictured with Branca while on holiday in Sardinia earlier this month but the Inter executive moved to cool speculation by describing the meeting as “fortuitous” and insisting nothing should be read into it.

Tevez has continually spoken of his desire to leave Manchester, mainly citing his desire to be nearer to his wife and two daughters, who live in Argentina. The former Manchester United man is understood to be open to a move to Europe that might tempt his family to join him or, at the very least, provide direct flights to his homeland.

Aguero, who has signed a deal worth €40m including add-ons, has joined Roberto Mancini's squad as a replacement for Tevez, City's top scorer in the last two campaigns, rather than a strike partner for his compatriot.

City have until now insisted that Tevez's asking price for European suitors is €57m, but the high profile swoop for Aguero is expected to soften their stance.

It is understood that chief executive Garry Cook would sell Tevez, who remains the club's captain, for €51m and possibly even as low as €45m if a buyer is not found by the time the transfer deadline draws near.

Meanwhile, Aguero is expected to make his first appearance in a City shirt this weekend as the Premier League side step up their pre-season preparations in the Dublin Super Cup.

The 23-year-old has signed a five-year contract and will travel to Ireland ahead of games against an Airtricity League XI on Saturday and Inter on Sunday.

"Alvarez will be an important player for this team. He made himself noticed right from the start."
Gasperini then briefly discussed the match in general and stated that the friendly was quite important for him in assessing his squad.
"This first match was useful for me to observe, adjust and add some things. We started well then we lost our shape a bit, partly because of the injuries - though they aren't serious fortunately. We'll keep working hard and try to improve game after game."

The Serie A giants have been credited with an interest in the Brazil Under-20 international for the past few weeks as they look to add depth to their midfield.
Casemiro, who has a contract until 2015 with Sao Paulo, has reportedly grown unhappy at the lack of progress over a new deal.
The midfielder is seeking a €500,000-a-year deal, and with Sao Paulo unwilling to go beyond half that figure, the 19-year-old is looking to move on.
Casemiro's agent is currently in Italy, where he spoke with Inter, and it is believed the Italian club will present a formal offer of €14 million in the next few days.

Gasperini: "Observe, adjust, add"

"It was a good start that showed us how much enthusiasm there is in this group and we got to see some of the youngsters. The three-man defence won't be a problem and we're not short of men or ideas for different solutions." Those were Gian Piero Gasperini's first words as he spoke to Sky Sport 24 after the friendly match in which Inter beat Trentino Team 6-1.
The Nerazzurri coach went on to comment on some of the individual performances: "Alvarez made himself noticed right from the start. Sneijder is a marvellous footballer and part of this group; he's come across really well and he's working hard. Nagatomo is great at getting forward, but we need to work on the timing of our movements in the final third. I was really impressed by Castaignos and Alvarez: they both showed good movement. The Dutchman is younger but he knows how to time his runs, and Alvarez will be an important player for this team."
Gasperini then spoke about how he sees the pre-season shaping up: "Our training camp is going well. We're working in ideal conditions every day and we're laying the foundations for a great season. Perhaps there are a few more tactical variations than in the past, but the players have been very receptive."
The coach continued in his post-match press conference: "This first match was useful for me to observe, adjust and add some things. We started well then we lost our shape a bit, partly because of the injuries - though they aren't serious fortunately. We'll keep working hard and try to improve game after game. I must say that everyone has been putting in a lot of effort but you can only improve by playing. The transfer market? We're cut off from all the rumours and the pitch is the only thing that counts."

EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United & Inter Agree on Transfer Values Wesley Sneijder

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Inter about the transfer of Wesley Sneijder. Approved the transfer fee which reached 35.2 million pounds.

The negotiation process was entering the next phase, in which United had the opportunity to discuss the value of the contract with the player.

However, as revealed GOAL.com sources, there are differences in the desire of both parties about the value of salaries. Parties Sneijder wants a salary at least 200 thousand pounds per week, while United only prepared to pay no more than 170 thousand pounds.

Manchester United chief executive David Gill flies into Milan to finalise deal for €40m Inter star Wesley Sneijder

A Manchester United delegation led by chief executive David Gill has flown to Milan to finalise a deal for Wesley Sneijder.
The United officials arrived in Italy on Tuesday for a first meeting with the Inter directors and remained in Milan on Wednesday as negotiations continue to bring the 27-year-old playmaker to Old Trafford.
Although Inter technical director Marco Branca has insisted that the Dutchman “is not for sale”, Goal.com understands that this is part of the club’s strategy to ensure the player is sold for the maximum fee and if United meet the Italian club’s £35 million valuation then Sneijder will be free to discuss personal terms with the Premier League champions.
Sources close to the negotiations say a resolution could be found as soon as new Inter manager Gian Piero Gasperini has told the Inter hierarchy that he does not see the Holland star as indispensable.
"A delegation of United directors have arrived in Milan and they have already met with a delegation of Inter directors,” an insider told Goal.com. "There was a meeting between both parties.
"United, it seems, are very much intent on taking Sneijder, and if they meet the evaluation then they will get him and the deal will happen.
"This transfer is destined to be resolved, in one way or another, in just a short matter of time. It's in the interests of both parties to come to a resolution soon, and I don't think the talks will drag on for months and months.”

Sneijder believes a move to Old Trafford could offer him the chance to add to an already impressive medal haul which includes domestic titles in Italy, Spain and the Netherlands, in addition to the 2010 Champions League.
The former Real Madrid star has privately indicated that he wants a move to Sir Alex's Ferguson's side, but has not publicly spoken of his desire to leave in order to avoid angering Inter fans. He has a contract at San Siro which expires in 2015 and would be content to see it out if a transfer fails to materialise this summer, hence his reluctance to agitate in public for a move.
Although Sneijder’s wage demands could delay any transfer, given the complexities of signing-on fees and image rights, it is significant that Gasperini, who will field a new 3-4-3 formation next season, is willing to allow the Dutchman to leave so he can bolster his squad in other areas. A top left-back is one of the main priorities for the Inter coach.
"There is no place for Sneijder in Gasperini's 3-4-3,” the source added. “From a technical point of view the player is not considered someone they cannot do without.
"What Branca said is just the Inter transfer strategy. They would rather say Sneijder is not for sale, than confirm he is. It is just a marketing ploy.
"Sneijder is a top level player and so Inter are trying their best not to undersell him or give him away."

Gian Piero Gasperini had the players do some ball work in the first part of the session: ball possession drills, tactical practice matches and a final practice match on a small pitch. In the second half of the session, the players carried out aerobic exercises in groups (divided according to individual needs and on the basis of athletic test results) before having a 'recovery' workout in the gym.

Nelson Rivas followed a specific individual programme, while Raffaele Di Gennaro, Ivan Ramiro Cordoba and Thiago Motta all went on with their rehabilitation work.

Branca: "We know what we have to do"

After the media conference in which Inter's latest signings Ricardo Alvarez and Luc Castaignos were presented to the press, Nerazzurri technical director Marco Branca fielded the questions put to him by journalists.
You can read his statements in full here on inter.it:
Can you give us an update on Wesley Sneijder's situation?
"I don't think there's anything to be updated. This is a topic that I think you journalists are very keen on and it's not the least bit surprising that Sneijder might attract interest from other clubs, some of the biggest clubs in the world including ourselves, so there's no update to give."
But there have been some bids made for the player...
"No, there haven't been any concrete offers and we haven't been waiting for any. He's just getting on with his job, as we all are. We have to get through this period, these last 50 days: we know what we have to do, and that's what the situation is."
So you are saying that Sneijder is not for sale?
"That's right, he is not for sale."
Are you surprised to see that Maicon isn't in the Brazil team at the moment?
"No... he's having a rest. He's played so much in recent years and at such a high level that even if he sits out for a few games, I think that can only do him some good, but I don't think he'll be resting for much longer because it's very difficult to leave out a player as good as he is."

Those players include Ricky Alvarez, Barcelona’s Jonathan Dos Santos, Genoa’s Argentine striker Rodrigo Palacio and Valencia’s Evra Banegra. Combined the four players will cost around £30m.
What is really shocking are the comments that followed from Inter chief executive Ernesto Paolillo
“We have to sell, then after we have sold we will see what Inter will buy,” said Paolillo. “The first move will be selling and not buying.”
